The National Summer Learning Association hosts a series of events
focused on the issues and opportunities of summer learning. These
events are designed to:
- Raise awareness about the importance of high-quality summer learning programs.
- Increase public and private investment for high-quality summer learning programs.
- Provide program providers with strategies and tools for improving and expanding their programs.
Two annual signature events are the Summer Changes Everything national
conference and Summer Learning Day. The association also hosts program
development training seminars and periodic policy forums and online
seminars highlighting timely issues, research, and best practices.
Summer Learning Day
Each year, Summer Learning Day is a time for communities across the
nation to celebrate the importance of high-quality summer learning
opportunities in the lives of young people. The National Summer
Learning Association hosts events on Capitol Hill and encourages
program providers to host community events that showcase how summer
programs support working families and offer unique opportunities for
academic achievement, personal development and recreation. Plan to host an event on June 21, 2010.
Summer Changes Everything National Conference
Summer program providers, educators, youth workers, researchers and
policy makers convene in the only national forum focused exclusively on
improving the quality of summer programming. The conference offers
attendees the opportunity to network with leaders in the field of
summer learning and provides resources and workshops to aid in
planning, implementing and advocating for high-quality summer learning
programs. Each year at the conference, the field recognizes the
association's Excellence in Summer Learning Award recipients. Be sure to register for this year's conference November 9-10, 2010 in Indianapolis. |
