Summer is a time when many children struggle. Get the facts.
Summer Spells SUCCESS! What Parents Can Do to Keep Kids Sharp Over the Summer [English] [Spanish]
It’s no wonder that people are talking about summer learning. Recent research continues to show that children who fail to engage in high-quality summer learning fall behind, contributing to a persistent achievement gap. There are health consequences as well, with aimless, unproductive summers contributing to poor nutrition and obesity.
As an issue, high-quality summer learning—or the lack of it—affects children, parents, educators and all of society. The media is taking notice, with stories and opinion pieces appearing regularly in newspapers and on radio, television and the web.
