Summer Policy Internship Program

National Summer Learning Association's Summer Policy Internship

At the National Summer Learning Association (NSLA), we believe internships are among the most transformative forms of summer learning. Our paid Summer Policy Internship in Washington, D.C. equips exceptional young leaders with real-world policy experience while advancing pathways to civic leadership and professional success.

Each intern is an alumni of an award-winning summer program, and we place them in high-impact roles on Capitol Hill, within leading public policy organizations, and across national community-based organizations. Participants receive housing accommodations and a stipend, ensuring equitable access to this immersive experience.

Beyond hands-on placements, interns engage in comprehensive professional development, mentorship, and networking opportunities that strengthen leadership capacity, deepen policy understanding, and accelerate career readiness. Many alumni go on to secure full-time roles and continue shaping systems that expand opportunity for young people nationwide.

The application for Summer 2026 is now open! Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until spots are filled. We are accepting applicants from all locations and majors, but have a special interest in students from Nebraska, Delaware, Ohio, Tennessee, Georgia, and Indiana.
